Barranco is all about Music, Food and Art

Barranco is one of the loveliest parts of Lima, Peru. The area is positioned on a cliff overlooking the ocean which gives you the chance to see gorgeous sunsets. Barranco is full of picturesque parks, such as the Parque Principal. The district is also home to the famous Puente de los Suspiros, or Bridge of Sighs, which is a walkway over the Bajada de los Banos, a pathway which leads from Barranco down to the ocean. Barranco has many shops and galleries filled with the work of local artists. A favorite to visit is the Galeria Lucia de le Puenta. Barranco is also full of excellent restaurants, such as La Noche. The nightclub scene here is also a great deal of fun, though I must admit that I may have passed that age when dancing til the wee hours of the morning holds a lot of appeal. But the young – and the young at heart Peruvians – are as happy as can be with this attraction. I find myself attracted to the corner cafes with wonderful Peruvian sweets, which are the delicacies of the country as far as I’m concerned. Ah, to eat in Peru…
